November 2 — Eta Omicron chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha New Member Presentation
Recap by: Jermaine Hudson • Photo by: Jermaine Hudson
After not having a line 2022-2023, the Eta Omicron chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity returned to Harris Field to introduce their Fall 23 line: Separate But Equal. The line consisted of two new brothers: Lance Patterson, a second-year in business administration, and Kaleb Hall, a third-year in communications.
The Eta Omicron chapter was the first historically black fraternity to be established at NC State and has a deep connection with the school. The first black student body president and vice president were both members of Alpha Phi Alpha. In fact, one of the current active brothers is Timothy Reid, a fourth-year in business administration and the current student body president.
Before the two newly initiated brothers joined Eta Omicron, the chapter consisted of all seniors. Now, the fraternity can continue their legacy for another year as new perspectives and brothers have been brought into the chapter’s arms.
November 4 — NC State vs Miami
Recap by: Stone Boylan • Photo by: Hallie Walker
Carter-Finley Stadium has been the place to be for NC State fans the past two weeks. Hope was minimal for the Pack to recover its season after a disappointing start, filled with QB changes and uncertainty about its standing within the ACC. Now, one game into November, Raleigh is filled with optimism.
After a reviving home win versus Clemson, NC State held down the house — hosting a Miami team who had its sights set on trying to play Florida State for the ACC crown and attempting to get back into the Top 25. The Hurricanes likely weren’t expecting such a grueling battle from the Wolfpack.
NC State came away with a 20-6 victory over the Hurricanes, backed by 20-6 its best defensive performances of the season. Graduate linebacker Peyton Wilson, a star for the Wolfpack, totaled a season-high 16 tackles.
“This is our standard; the confidence that we play with and the love that we play with is unmatched,” Wilson said.
The Pack walked away with its sixth win of the season, making them bowl-eligible and giving head coach Dave Doeren the record for most all-time wins by a coach in NC State history.
