Their job is to oversee design production and layout, as well as train new graphic designers.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Requirements:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Has knowledge of using the Adobe Creative Suite<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Demonstrates excellence in creativity, knowledge in design principles, and attention to detail.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Attend weekly editorial meetings (they usually last for an hour)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Attend bi-weekly all-staff meetings<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Assignments:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Administer spread assignments and magazine layout<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Regularly complete spread assignments<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Plan coverage and design with the other editors<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Brainstorm content ideas<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Staff Development:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Recruit and train new staff members<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Work with the other editors to develop templates, colors and styles.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Lead initial design process of the publication\u2019s style and spread<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Work with the other editors on special projects such as the cover<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Other Responsibilities:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Meet weekly with the Roundabout staff to assess progress and deadlines.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Assist in marketing, promotion and distribution of Roundabout<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Be an example to new staff.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Other duties as assigned by the editor-in-chief.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>To Apply:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Prepare your resume<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Prepare a portfolio of what you consider your best design work (from any genre), including designs you\u2019ve created for Roundabout<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Go to the <a href=\"https:\/\/orgs.ncsu.edu\/roundabout\/archive\/\">Roundabout issue archive<\/a> and pick three spreads that stand out to you. The spreads can be from multiple issues or all from the same issue.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Review the strengths and weaknesses of each spread and describe changes you would recommend.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Write your reviews as if you were addressing the spread\u2019s designer to their face in an actual design critique.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>There is no length requirement for your reviews: an abundance of insight, not an abundance of words, is the goal.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Email your resume, portfolio, and reviews to <a href=\"mailto:roundabout-editor@ncsu.edu\">roundabout-editor@ncsu.edu<\/a> by <strong>Sunday September 1st<\/strong> at midnight.
