They assume the design editor position in the case of emergency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Requirements:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Must have completed correspondency<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Must have at least an intermediate level of Adobe Indesign proficiency and be comfortable with teaching their design skills to new correspondents<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Responsibilities:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Conduct editorial shadows for design correspondents in lieu of the design editor<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Train design correspondents in Adobe Indesign in lieu of the design editor<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Checks in with correspondents to ensure all spreads are complete and ready for the design editor to compile in the layout<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ensures all embedded images\/graphics in magazine spreads are properly linked<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Takes up the post of design editor (with the responsibilities and increased pay that entails) if the current design editor is incapacitated.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Perks:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>First dibs on design assignments<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>More opportunities for flat rate pay<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Joins editor&#8217;s channel and may optionally join editor&#8217;s meetings<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Reccomended Preparation: <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Familiarize yourself with the Roundabout Style guide<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Description:\u00a0The interim assistant design editor works alongside the design editor to train new correspondents and ensure content readiness.
