Fall Elections Process

Meet the candidates here!

  • Each Fall, students have the opportunity to run for the following positions:
    • First-Year Student Senate – 10 seats
    • First-Year Graduate and Lifelong Education Student Senate – 2 seats
    • Open Senate seats – Fall 2019
      •    College of Engineering – 6 seats
      •    College of Humanities and Social Sciences – 1 seat
      •    Poole College of Management – 3 seats
      •    College of Design – 3 seats
      •    College of Natural Resources – 1 seat
      •    College of Education – 3 seats
      •    College of Sciences – 2 seats
      •    Division of Academic and Student Affairs (Exploratory Studies) – 1 seat
      •    Graduate and Lifelong Education – 5 seats
  • To run for one of these open seats, please fill out the Intent to Run Form by 11pm September 10th.

*Students are eligible to run for first year seats if this is their first fall semester at NC State, whether it be as a freshman or transfer student.

*Numbers subject to change.

*No Senate seats for the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences and Wilson College of Textiles are currently open. Check back in the Spring 2020 election if you are interested in running in one of these colleges.


Fall 2019 Election Timeline and Checklist

  • For a calendar version of the following information, please see this document.
  • Friday, August 30, 2019 at 8:00 AM:  Filing for Candidacy Opens
  • Tuesday, September 10, 2019 at 11:00 PM:  Filing for Candidacy Closes
    • Attend one of two All Candidates Meetings
    • Wednesday, September 11, 2019 at 8:30pm (Talley 4140):  All Candidates Meeting
    • Thursday, September 12, 2019 at 7pm (Talley 4210):  All Candidates Meeting
    • Note: If you cannot attend one of the All Candidates Meetings, you may send a representative in your place, but you must fill out this form in order to do so.
    • Post All Candidates Meeting Module – complete by September 16th
  • Monday, September 16, 2019: Campaigning Begins – 8:00 AM
    • Submit your first Expense Report by 5:00 PM
  • Monday, September 23, 2019: Submit your second Expense Report by 5:00 PM
  • Tuesday, September 24, 2019: Voting Opens – 8:00 PM
  • Wednesday, September 25, 2019: Voting Closes – 8:00 PM
    • Submit your third Expense Report by 8:15 PM
    • Fall Election Reveal – 10:00pm PM @ Mountains Ballroom
  • Thursday, September 26, 2019: Runoff Voting from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM
    • Submit your Runoff Election Finance Report by 8:00 PM
    • Runoff election reveal will be posted online within 24 hours of the close of polls
  • Wednesday, October 2, 2019: First Senate Meeting – 7:30 PM, Talley 4140
