About the Legislative Branch<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Legislative Branch of Student Government consists of the Student Senate President, Student Senate President Pro Tempore<\/em>, and at least three Senators from each College of NC State University. The Legislative Branch of Student Government is the Student Senate and is given a number of duties by the Student Body Constitution, which includes the responsibility to enact legislation necessary and promote the general welfare of the Student Body.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n

About the Student Senate<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Student Senate is vested with the legislative power of the Student Body by the Student Body Constitution. The body of Senate is comprised of 80 students who proportionally represent each of the University\u2019s schools and colleges, including undergraduates, graduates, and non-degree students. It is led by the Student Senate President who is elected from the student body at large, and other officers, including the Senate President Pro Tempore<\/em> and the several committee chairs. The work of the Senate is largely accomplished by its numerous committees<\/a>, which focus on specific areas of student concern.
