Are YOU Ready For Some Football?

Already into week four of the 2008 NFL season, it has been one surprise and upset after another. In the preseason predictions, many predicted the New England Patriots, Indianapolis Colts, and San Diego Chargers, just to name a few, to come out strong in the opening weeks of the season. Unfortunately, these early season predictions were wrong and off...way off. In a series of events that are typical of the sport of football, teams that should be at the top of their respective divisions and teams that should be at the bottom have, clearly, been switched. With teams that have, surprisingly, looked horrible and uncoordinated or even those who are, finally, starting to play like a team, it's time to get out the game book and put some sanity into an already crazy season.

There Are Great Benefits to Keeping a Smile!

People say a smile is contagious. Once you start smiling around someone, he or she just seems to automatically smile too! In physiological terms, a smile is a facial expression formed by flexing the muscles most notably near both ends of the mouth. Speaking subjectively, the smile can be also around the eyes. Smiling is customarily an expression of pleasure, happiness, or amusement. However, it can also be an involuntary expression of anxiety, in which case it can be known as a grimace. There is much evidence that smiling is a normal reaction to certain stimuli and occurs regardless of culture.

The Underdog Triumphs

Even before the game started, many sport analysts had picked East Carolina over NC State, even though it was a home game for the Wolfpack. Those same sport analysts said that this would be an easy win for the Pirates, making them one game closer to a BCS title game. They counted on ECU's stellar offense and defense to help bring that prediction to light. However, there is one thing that both the analysts and ECU forgot to take into account: when dealing with NC State: the tenacity and eagerness the Wolfpack football team would possess to prove the naysayers wrong. It was this miscalculation, along with a well-noted effort by the revamped offense and defense, which propelled NC State to a win in overtime, 30-24.

Ne-Yo: Year of the Gentleman How Does This New Album Stack Up?

In addition to his previous two best-selling albums,"In My Own Words" and "Because of You," Ne-Yo returned with his very chic and appropriately titled album, "Year of the Gentleman." For the past few years, Ne-Yo has been credited for writing some of the most popular songs known to date, such as Beyonce's "Irreplaceable," Rihanna's "Take a Bow," and Mario's "Let Me Love You." It's safe to say that Ne-Yo has continued along this streak of hit songs with the already released singles from his album, such as "Miss Independent," and "Closer." This album gives you a Frank Sinatra kind of feel. Ne-Yo has said that he was inspired by the likes of Elton John and Billy Joel for this album.

So Long, Yankee Stadium

New York has always been a noteworthy city in the United States, especially in regards to sports and entertainment. It's what the legendary, Madison Square Garden calls home, with its historical moments from the University of Georgetown Hoyas, Michael Jordan, and the infamous New York Knicks. It is the home of many Super Bowl Champions of both the Giants and Jets, where legends such as Joe Namath, Brett Favre, Bill Parcells, and Lawrence Taylor pay respects on the gridiron. It is the city that, if you can make it there, then, you can make it anywhere. It's also home to one of the more legendary landmarks, "The House that Ruth Built", Yankee Stadium. This weekend was the last time that Yankee Stadium will host a game, as a new stadium will be built just feet away.

Don’t cut the crap!

Constipation is a common phenomenon among college students. From my own personal witness, many college students suffer from constipation, or lack of knowledge about healthy bowel movements. Irregular bowel movements are a serious problem that should not be overlooked. Bowel movement irregularities can lead to potential colon problems or even death. The colon plays a major role in transporting waste and toxins outside the body, so it is very important to "keep it moving."

Fashion show gives new meaning to the phrase “No sweat”

When you wake up in the morning and get dressed, do you ever stop to think what it took to make the clothes you pick out? What many people don't realize is that some of our favorite clothes were most likely made by women and children in sweatshops under extreme conditions for little to no wages at all. To raise awareness about sweatshops and other human rights injustices, the Human Rights Awareness Tour also referred to as HRAT, held a "No Sweat Fashion Show" along with a a fair trade coffee night. According to their Facebook group, The Human Rights Awareness Tour or "HRAT" is a group of traveling student organizers, non-governmental organizations, speakers, filmmakers, bands, photographers, journalists, artists, poets, models, and performers who have united in an effort to promote Human Rights, Environmental Sustainability, and Fair Trade practices.

Tyler Perry’s The Family that Preys: A Tale of Preying and a Prayer

A Family that Preys is a movie that is by far a prime example of an emotional rollercoaster ride. It twists your sentiments and thoughts in such a way I never thought was possible, by way of film.

It’s Time to Learn More About the Value of Exercise

It seems like everyone, these days, feels the "hustle and bustle" of life. We are just running around doing this, that, and the other. Sometimes, we get so caught up in what we are doing or in planning for what we know we have to do, we forget to stop and just breathe and take time out for ourselves. One way we can take time out to care for ourselves is by exercising.

Album Review: “Sol-Angel and the Hadley St. Dreams”

After Solange Knowles released her very first album, "Solostar," it was deemed a failed attempt at trying to step out of the shadow of her famous sister, Beyoncé Knowles. However, she has returned with a sophomore album "Sol-Angel and the Hadley St. Dreams" that has a psychedelic feel, and, in my opinion, is lyrically, beautiful. She enlisted the help of big names in the industry such as the Neptunes, and Cee-Lo to create this retro work of art. It seems that Sol-Angel has truly found her voice by taking the reins of her career.
