Social Justice January Goes “Beyond the Buzzwords”

On January 23, Campus Community Centers will join together to host the annual Social Justice January, a day dedicated to teaching members of the campus community about various subjects relating to social justice and activism. There will be four workshops held between 11:30 a.m. and 7 p.m. in the community centers on main campus. This year’s theme is “Beyond the Buzzwords.”

Kwanzaa 2018 Celebration

The African American Cultural Center hosted the 2018 Kwanzaa celebration on Thursday, Dec. 6 in Witherspoon Campus Cinema. The program featured performances by Uninhibited Praise Gospel Choir, AACC artist in residence Willie Hinton, and the National Pan-Hellenic Council.

The Shop: De-stigmatizing Mental Health

For generations, the stigma of mental health has plagued the black community. Distrust of health services has lead to many stereotypes being perpetrated on the topic of mental health, such as only weak people seek counseling or the solution to mental illness is through religion and “praying it away.”

AACC hosts new USPS Kwanzaa Stamp Reveal

NC State’s African American Cultural Center (AACC) joined the United States Postal Service in dedicating the newest Kwanzaa Forever stamp. The dedication commenced in the Sankofa room of Witherspoon Student Center on October 10.
