What is Roundabout Magazine?

Roundabout is a general interest magazine that focuses on student life and culture. We publish three times a year: for fall, spring and new student orientation. You can see examples of our previous issues here. If you are a Freshman, you have likely received our orientation issue in the mail!

Roundabout was founded in 2017 as a subset of the Technician, but since then we’ve become an independent publication. Our primary mission is to cover student life in an entertaining way, and give more creative space to student journalists. Since we’ve been founded, we’ve distributed tens of thousands of copies and our orientation issue has become Student Media’s single highest-grossing product.

Meet the Team

Bran Poster
Editor-in-Chief

Bran is a third-year student and self-certified goober studying English with a concentration in Rhetoric and Professional Writing. He has pranced all over Student Media since his first semester, serving as a Media Consultant in the Student Business and Marketing team as well as Photo Editor for Roundabout’s spring 2022 issue. When you catch him in the office there’s a 50% chance he’s either Roundabouting or doing his German homework. Ich verstehe nur Bahnhof!

Audrey Javan
Copy Editor

Audrey is a third-year student majoring in English with a concentration in creative writing and — inspired to a non-negligible degree by a summer of Tom Cruise movies — an intended minor in film. This is her second year in Student Media, and she’s having a great time reporting on student life, good books and campus hauntings. In her daily life, she’s an active, shirt-holding member of the NCSU English Club, a one-time (and counting!) published short story author, an avid K-pop fan and a very fast walker.

Briana Vreuls
Design Editor

Briana is a third-year student studying graphic & experience design with a minor in journalism. This is her first year in Student Media but she has been dabbling in art and photography for a long while and enjoys bringing fellow Roundabouters’ articles to life. On campus she plays intramural soccer and partakes in the occasional game of pickleball. She puts far too many miles on her car but can’t help being addicted to board sports and spends most weekends at the beach or up in the mountains. If she’s home, she’s likely cooking a third breakfast.

Emily Peedin
Photo Editor

Emily is a third-year student studying psychology and religious studies with a minor in political science. This is her third year with Student Media and her second as Roundabout Photo Editor. Alongside being Photo Editor for Roundabout, Emily is also a Senior Staff Photographer with Student Media (meaning her photos also appear in other publications like Technician, Nubian Message, and Agromeck). Outside of the student media walls, Emily enjoys reading, watching TikTok, going to concerts and music festivals, and serving as president of her sorority!

Layney Keesee
Promotion Director

Layney is a first-year English Literature major while minoring in Anthropology and Arts Entrepreneurship. When not at the Gregg Museum, Layney writes, draws, throws pottery, and photographs her favorite spots on campus. A self-proclaimed film buff and coffee connoisseur, she enjoys game nights with friends and engaging in moderately goofy activities.
