Interim Assistant Design Editor


Description: The interim assistant design editor works alongside the design editor to train new correspondents and ensure content readiness. They assume the design editor position in the case of emergency.

Requirements:

  • Must have completed correspondency
  • Must have at least an intermediate level of Adobe Indesign proficiency and be comfortable with teaching their design skills to new correspondents

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct editorial shadows for design correspondents in lieu of the design editor
  • Train design correspondents in Adobe Indesign in lieu of the design editor
  • Checks in with correspondents to ensure all spreads are complete and ready for the design editor to compile in the layout
  • Ensures all embedded images/graphics in magazine spreads are properly linked
  • Takes up the post of design editor (with the responsibilities and increased pay that entails) if the current design editor is incapacitated.
