Description: The interim assistant design editor works alongside the design editor to train new correspondents and ensure content readiness. They assume the design editor position in the case of emergency.
Requirements:
- Must have completed correspondency
- Must have at least an intermediate level of Adobe Indesign proficiency and be comfortable with teaching their design skills to new correspondents
Responsibilities:
- Conduct editorial shadows for design correspondents in lieu of the design editor
- Train design correspondents in Adobe Indesign in lieu of the design editor
- Checks in with correspondents to ensure all spreads are complete and ready for the design editor to compile in the layout
- Ensures all embedded images/graphics in magazine spreads are properly linked
- Takes up the post of design editor (with the responsibilities and increased pay that entails) if the current design editor is incapacitated.
