Fall 2021 Elections Interest Meeting

Join the Student Government Board of Elections for an overview of the fall election process, available positions, and eligibility requirements for joining Student Government. There are multiple seats available ranging from first-year Senator to college-specific seats. Join us at the upcoming dates listed below:

Previous Interest Meetings

• August 18 at 6:30PM in Talley 4140
• August 20 at 3PM in Talley 4251 
• August 22 at 1PM at https://ncsu.zoom.us/j/96130718149
• September 2 at 5:30PM in Talley 4140
• September 3 at 5:00PM in Talley 4140

Fall 2021 Elections Process

• Each Fall, students have the opportunity to run for the following positions:
  • First-Year Student Senate – 10 seats
  • Graduate and Lifelong Education Student Senate
    •    First Year Seats – 3 seats
    •    General Seats – 6 seats
  • Open Senate seats – Fall 2021
    •    College of Design – 2 seats
    •    College of Education – 3 seats
    •    College of Agricultural and Life Sciences (CALS) – 1 seat
    •    College of Engineering – 1 seat
    •    Wilson College of Textiles – 2 seats
    •    Division of Academic and Student Affairs (Exploratory Studies) – 1 seat
• To run for one of these open seats, please fill out the Intent to Run Form by September 7, 2021 at 11:59PM EST.

*Students are eligible to run for first year seats if this is their first fall semester at NC State, whether it be as a first-year or transfer student.

Fall Elections Calendar

• Tuesday, August 31, 2021 at 12:01 AM: Filing for Candidacy Opens
  • Read the Elections Handbook
  • Fill out an Intent to Run Form
• Tuesday, September 7, 2021 at 11:59 PM:  Filing for Candidacy Closes
• Attend one of two All Candidates Meeting 
  • Wednesday, September 8, 2021 at 8:00PM:  All Candidates Meeting
  • Thursday, September 9, 2021 5:00PM:  All Candidates Meeting
  • Note: If you cannot attend one of the All Candidates Meetings, you may send a representative in your place, but you must fill out this form in order to do so.
• Monday, September 13, 2021: Campaigning Begins – 12:01 AM
  • Submit your first Expense Report by 5:00 PM
• Monday, September 20, 2021: Expense Report #2 Due
  • Submit your second Expense Report by 5:00 PM
• Tuesday, September 21, 2021: Voting Opens – 12:01 AM
• Wednesday, September 22, 2021: Voting Closes – 11:59 PM
• Thursday, September 23, 2021: Expense Report #3 Due
  • Submit your third Expense Report by 12:14AM
• Thursday, September 23, 2021, from 7:30pm-9pm: Election Reveal
  • Fall Election Reveal – Student Involvement Center
• Thursday, September 23, 2021: Runoff Voting from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM
  • Runoff election reveal will be posted online within 24 hours of the close of poll
