Committee on Public Affairs

The Committee on Public Affairs is responsible for all advocacy initiatives and formulating policies regarding bodies of governance at the local, state, and federal level, including the Raleigh City Council, Wake County Board of Commissioners, the UNC Association of Student Governments, the UNC Board of Governors, and the North Carolina General Assembly. The committee reviews all matters of student concern external to the University, except where another committee has direct jurisdiction. The Committee attends meetings of the Raleigh City Council, Wake County Board of Commissioners, and North Carolina General Assembly where pertinent business is being discussed, provide legislative oversight and assist with the implementation of the Pack the Polls voter mobilization program, and facilitate Student Government engagement with local, state, and federal policymakers through initiatives such as legislative action days, letter writing or phone banking campaigns, and the introduction of legislation relevant to larger policy concerns.
