[HOWL] Campus events for the week! Feb. 7th

Message from the SBP

Good evening, Wolfpack!  I hope everyone is off to a great week!  Hopefully you’re not on Amazon reading reviews of trash cans — thank you product design class; this is what it takes to get a 21st century education y’all.  Last week, I used these introductory remarks to advertise the “challenging anti-Muslim sentiments” events.

I’d like to take now inform you to mark your calendars for Mon. Feb 20th, 6-8PM, Stafford Commons.  There will be a rally, “United Not Divided.” In response to recent events in America, it has become so necessary to show that we are united.  Even though we live different, diverse lives, we are linked in our empathy for each other’s struggles and lived experiences.  Mark your calendar for an impactful event; all are welcome.
That’s all I have for this week!  Student body elections aren’t too far away; filing for office opened up yesterday.  Check out the link below in the SG section for more information.  I have 7 weeks remaining as your Student Body President, and we’re going strong, making change, and advocating on behalf of students until the last day!

With Wolfpack Spirit,

Paul

Weekly shoutout to Jordan, Justin, Nicole Brugnoli, and CN Pittman – it’s also Justin’s birthday! If you see me on campus, ask for a shoutout!

TRADITION OF THE WEEK

DH Hill Library – Studying in the Stacks

D.H. Hill, central campus’s main library, was named after the school’s first English professor, Daniel Harvey Hill. Hill later became president of the college in 1908. Originally housed in the Main Building, now Holladay Hall, the library moved to Pullen Hall in 1903. By the 1920s, the collection reached more than 10,000 volumes, and the library moved to the newly built Brooks Hall. The library collection had outgrown its space by the 1950s and in 1953 moved to its present location, where it houses more than 4 million volumes. New additions were added to D.H. Hill Library in 1954, 1972 and 1990. At the main circulation desk, students can check out books, textbooks, movies, video games and a plethora of electronic devices. There are eight floors of bookstacks for individual studying as well as group rooms to reserve. The library also has its own coffee bar, Hill of Beans, and the Creamery, where Howling Cow ice cream is sold. The library system, which includes four other libraries, also has an expansive collection of resources, including thousands of journals, available online at library.ncsu.edu.

At this time, the training is voluntary for students but will become mandatory for all students this coming fall 2017. NC State has procured the training program from February 3, 2017 through April 3, 2017 for students to be able to satisfy the requirement early.

Go to https://studentsuccess.org/SSO/ncsu to access the training. The training can be taken in several sittings and need only be taken one time.

If you have general questions regarding the training, please contact Robinette Kelley, associate vice provost for equal opportunity and equity and lead deputy Title IX coordinator, at equalopportunity@ncsu.edu.

Please note that the training contains sensitive material involving sexual and interpersonal violence. Viewers who may find the content problematic may contact Robinette Kelley directly at rkelley@ncsu.edu for confidential support or to discuss alternatives.
