Students Supporting Students
A mental health outreach initiative by the First Year Senators to bring awareness to the current crisis on campus and to help students know that they're not alone.
Additionally, these advocacy efforts focus on increasing the accessibility of resources, in addition to a push for more Mental Health First Aid and Question, Persuade, Refer (QPR) trainings.

- Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) is an eight-hour training program designed to help you develop essential skills to help someone experiencing a mental health or substance use challenge. The training helps you identify, understand and respond to signs of addictions and mental illness.
- The MHFA workshop is available as a single full-day session or as two half-day sessions. Through funding from the University of North Carolina System, Wolfpack Wellness is able to offer MHFA workshops at no cost to participants.
- Question, Persuade, & Refer(QPR) – Suicide Prevention Training is intended to teach individuals who have contact with students how to recognize the warning signs of suicide including verbal, behavioral, and situational clues. It provides guidelines on to how to question a person about suicidal thoughts, persuade them to get help, and refer the person for help. Register online through Reporter. (Sessions for students / Sessions for faculty/staff)
- Sessions are approximately 2 hours, with no cost to participants, with separate, more individualized sessions for undergraduate, graduate, and faculty groups. More information can be found at Prevention Services.
