Fall 2023 Elections Interest Meeting

Join the Student Government Board of Elections for an overview of the fall election process, available positions, and eligibility requirements for joining Student Government. There are multiple seats available ranging from first-year Senator to college-specific seats. Join us at the upcoming dates listed below:

Interest Meetings

• August 22 at 7:30 P.M. in Talley 4251
• August 24 at 7:30 P.M. in Talley 4251
• August 29 at 6:00 P.M. in SLE Suite
• September 11 at 8:00 P.M. in Talley 4251

Fall 2023 Elections Process

• Each Fall, students have the opportunity to run for the following positions:
  • First-Year Student Senate
    • 10 seats
  • Graduate and Lifelong Education Student Senate
    • First-Year Graduate Student: 3 seats
• To run for one of these open seats, please fill out the Intent to Run Form by September 12, 2023 at 11:59 P.M. EST.

*Students are eligible to run for first year seats if this is their first fall semester at NC State, whether it be as a first-year or transfer student.

Fall 2023 Election Timeline and Checklist

• Wednesday, September 6, 2023: Filing for Candidacy Opens at 12:01 A.M.
  • Read the Elections Handbook
  • Fill out an Intent to Run Form
• Tuesday, September 12, 2023: Filing for Candidacy Closes at 11:59 P.M.
• Attend one of two All Candidates Meeting 
  • Wednesday, September 13, 2023: All Candidates Meeting
  • Thursday, September 14, 2023: All Candidates Meeting
  • Note: If you cannot attend one of the All Candidates Meetings, you may send a representative in your place, but you must fill out this form in order to do so.
• Monday, September 18, 2023: Campaigning Begins – 12:01 A.M.
• Monday, September 18, 2023: Expense Report #1 Due
  • Submit your first Expense Report by 5:00 P.M
• Friday, September 22, 2023: Expense Report #2 Due
  • Submit your second Expense Report by 5:00 P.M.
• Tuesday, September 26, 2023: Voting Opens – 12:01 A.M.
• Wednesday, September 27, 2023: Voting Closes – 11:59 P.M.
• Thursday, September 28, 2023: Expense Report #3 Due
  • Submit your third Expense Report by 12:14 A.M.
• Thursday, September 28, 2023: Election Reveal
  • Talley 4140 (Governance Chambers) at 8:30 P.M.
• Friday, September 29, 2023: Runoff Voting from 8:00 A.M. to 8:00 P.M.
  • Runoff election reveal will be posted online within 24 hours of the close of poll
