Changing your organization’s name on PaymentWorks

In this guide, we provide step-by-step instructions for changing your organization's name on PaymentWorks. This Appropriations Guide was adapted from a PaymentWorks Help Article.

Step 1: Ensure your organization has a PaymentWorks account.

Your organization must have a PaymentWorks account first. Student organizations should check the Supplier Database to see if they have “Connected” status which means there is a PaymentWorks account for that respective organization.

Step 2: Login to your PaymentWorks account.

Once you determine if your student organization has a PaymentWorks account, go to paymentworks.com and login with your account credentials. If you don’t know your account password, you can reset your password here. If you don’t know your account email, contact the Student Body Treasurer at sbt@ncsu.edu.

Step 3: Changing the Business Legal Name.

  • From the PaymentWorks home page, click on the Company Profile link.
  • Click on Business Details
  • Click on Edit
  • Update the Business Legal Name (letters and numbers only; no special characters are allowed).
  • Click on Save to submit your change request for approval.

Now, you will need to change the DBA (Doing Business As) name.

Step 4: Change the DBA Name.

  • From the PaymentWorks home page, click on the Company Profile link.
  • You will be on the Marketing Information tab. Click on Edit
  • Update the Company Name (DBA).
  • Click on Save to submit your change request for approval.

Step 5: Approval of changes.

Once you have submitted your organization’s change request for approval, NC State Procurement & Business Services will review your changes and either approve or deny it.
