Join the Student Government Board of Elections for an overview of the fall election process, available positions, and eligibility requirements for joining Student Government. There are multiple seats available ranging from first-year Senator to college-specific seats. Join us at the upcoming dates listed below:

Fall 2024 Elections Process
- Each Fall, students have the opportunity to run for the following positions:
- First-Year Student Senate
- 10 seats
- Graduate and Lifelong Education Student Senate
- First-Year Graduate Student: 3 seats
- First-Year Student Senate
- To run for one of these open seats, please fill out the Intent to Run Form by September 10, 2024 at 11:59 P.M. EST.
*Students are eligible to run for first year seats if this is their first fall semester at NC State, whether it be as a first-year or transfer student.
Fall 2024 Election Timeline and Checklist
- Wednesday, September 4, 2024: Filing for Candidacy Opens at 12:01 A.M.
- Read the Elections Handbook
- Fill out an Intent to Run Form
- Tuesday, September 10, 2024: Filing for Candidacy Closes at 11:59 P.M.
- Attend one of two All Candidates Meeting
- Wednesday, September 11, 2024: All Candidates Meeting
- Thursday, September 12, 2024: All Candidates Meeting
- Note: If you cannot attend one of the All Candidates Meetings, you may send a representative in your place, but you must fill out this form in order to do so.
- Monday, September 16, 2024: Campaigning Begins – 12:01 A.M.
- Monday, September 16, 2024: Expense Report #1 Due
- Submit your first Expense Report by 5:00 P.M
- Friday, September 20, 2024: Expense Report #2 Due
- Submit your second Expense Report by 5:00 P.M.
- Monday, September 23, 2024: Voting Opens – 12:01 A.M.
- Tuesday, September 24, 2024: Voting Closes – 11:59 P.M.
- Wednesday, September 25, 2024: Expense Report #3 Due
- Submit your third Expense Report by 12:14 A.M.
- Wednesday, September 25, 2024: Election Reveal
- Talley 4140 (Governance Chambers) at 8:30 P.M.
- Thursday, September 26, 2024: Runoff Voting from 8:00 A.M. to 8:00 P.M.
- Runoff election reveal will be posted online within 24 hours of the close of poll
