Sustainability
The Department of Sustainability is a small group of highly motivated students dedicated to the enhancement of sustainability across NC State’s campus. Our team collaborates with fellow executive branch departments, faculty, staff, student senate, and various other student organizations to implement high-impact initiatives and host engaging events to bring sustainable solutions to our student body.
Current Initiatives
Single-Use Plastics Task Force
A campus-wide initiative to reduce the use of non-essential single-use plastics on NC State campus by working with Staff Senate, Sustainability Office, and campus administrators.
Sustainable Suds
An initiative aiming to promote sustainable consumption by providing students with eco-friendly detergent sheets through a series of educational events. The sheets
replace traditional detergent and are carbon-efficient and plastic-free. Through our events, we use this example of an eco-friendly everyday alternative to encourage discussions around mindful purchasing, recognizing greenwashing, and shifting unsustainable habits.
Campus Collaborations
Events hosted with other groups across campus that engage a diverse group of students in the name of advancing sustainability.
Get Involved
Sustainability Suggestion Form
The SG Sustainability Department wants to connect students, student groups, and administrators to accomplish projects. The Sustainability Suggestion form gives students and the NC State community an opportunity to describe an idea that the department or the entire campus could explore.
